Our Real Challenges

The state’s budget shortfall is not the biggest challenge facing Minnesota. Growing numbers of unemployed, increasing numbers of Minnesotans uninsured, families and communities aging, more people hungry, more people homeless. These are the important challenges.

Budget decisions reflect our values. Decisions about health care and social services are decisions about us all, reflecting the sort of community we are.

Historically, Minnesotans take care of each other. If we remember that we are in this together, we can continue the tradition of building strong communities, strong families, strong people.
